Time For Supreme Court to Dump Georgia Right to Execute Mental Disabled Priosner

CNN reports

Despite pleas by human rights groups and legal representatives who have argued that Hill’s intellectual disability should have made him ineligible for the death penalty, Hill died by injection at the prison in Jackson, Georgia.

His time of death was 7:55 p.m. ET, said spokeswoman Gwendolyn Hogan. Hill declined to make a final statement, but requested a final prayer, Hogan said.

Hill’s attorney slammed the U.S. Supreme Court, which declined to step in and grant a stay of execution.

“Today, the court has unconscionably allowed a grotesque miscarriage of justice to occur in Georgia,” said Brian Kammer, Hill’s lawyer.

“The intellectual disability community, which has strongly supported Mr. Hill’s case for many years, joined his legal team in the belief that the Supreme Court would step in and prevent Georgia’s flagrant disregard of the Constitution on behalf of the rights of people with disabilities,” said Kammer.

He described the execution as “an abomination.”

The Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles similarly voted to deny clemency”

The court took the chicken way. They let Georgia execute the prison instead of issuing a legal challenge to the execution and better yet, challenging the concept that states can execute people with mental disablity in general.  In reality, the Court could took the case and set a broad-based precedent stating that the death penalty should be outlawed in the state and nationwide with strict precedent that limits the cases when states can execute people with developmental disabilities.

Insane Rental Prices in SF

Can you believe how expensive it is to live in SF. A lot according to this article in the AP

“U.S. home rental prices continued to climb at a modest pace in December, but rapidly escalating costs in cities such as San Francisco and Denver suggest that apartment dwellers are facing more financial pressure.

Prices rose 3.3 percent in December compared with 12 months earlier, real estate data firm Zillow said Friday. Although that increase is less than the recent appreciation in home values, a surge in apartment costs in several of the hottest markets indicates that renters who aspire to buy homes face mounting financial challenges.

The share of Americans who own their homes has slipped to 64.4 percent from a peak of 69.2 percent in 2004, the result of the housing market crash that triggered the Great Recession in late 2007 from which the U.S. economy is still recovering more than seven years later. Because fewer Americans can afford to buy a home, demand for apartments and rental houses has pushed up prices at a time when newly graduated millennials are starting to leave their parents’ homes.”

Damn! That is a lot of money.

An Alcohol Resentment Run Wilds Result In Mosque Almost Being Torhced

Huffington Post reports

“An Indiana man who pleaded guilty to setting fire to a mosque in Ohio told the judge that, prior to the arson, he had been “riled up” watching Fox News.

On Sept. 30, Randolph Linn of St. Joseph, Ind., tried to burn down the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, The Plain Dealer previously reported. It was reported that he attempted to burn down the mosque in retaliation for attacks on U.S. embassies in the Middle East and for Muslims getting a “free pass” in the U.S. While being booked in jail, Linn reportedly said, “F**k those Muslims.”

In court on Wednesday, Linn plead guilty to the arson charge. He said that he had gotten “riled up” watching Fox News, according to the Sentinel-Tribune, and drank 45 beers in seven hours before heading to the mosque. Linn started a fire in the prayer room, northwestohio.com reported.”

Essentially, this is an alocoholic resentment of the worse kind. Not only I have never heard of anybody drinking of 45 beers an hour (I have heard of people drinking a 30 case, but drinking 45 drinks and torching a mosque). That is alcoholism that I really do not want to deal with. This guy needs serious help and I hope that AA in prison can help this guy deal with alcoholic resentments

Farawell to the Death Penalty in OK

If I was Chief Justice Roberts, I would force the state of Oklahoma to place a permanent injunction against the death penalty.  Not all states have the problem that Oklahoma, so those state would be exempt.  As reported by Democracy Now headlines,

“In its first lethal injection since a botched one last spring, the state of Oklahoma executed Charles Warner on Thursday. It took him 18 minutes to die — about twice as long as the average. His final words were: “My body is on fire.” Lawyers for Warner criticized the state for using midazolam, a drug that is not approved for general anesthesia. Warner was originally scheduled to die last April. But his execution was postponed after the botched killing of Clayton Lockett, who died of a heart attack 43 minutes after the execution began.

18 minutes for an execution.  Sorry, there are more humane ways for killing people like the firing squad.  A skilled marksman can easily killed the person for a shot to the heart within a few minutes.

It takes eighteen people using drugs; it takes two minutes or less using a weapon.  Maybe, the human element of execution is better than the sterile nature of lethal injection.  Maybe, shooting somebody with a firing squad might want to remind us that some people who are death row should never be death row, or better yet, eliminate the death penalty outright.

The GOP is Up to No Good On Social Security Disability Insurance

I guess the GOP does not care about disabled people as quoted from Wonkette

“But because disabled people are not useful for transporting crude oil or manufacturing weapons, the GOP is skeptical of spending a dime more on supporting them than is absolutely politically cynically necessary. It appears they’re betting that disabled people all vote Democrat anyway, and even if they don’t, the GOP will gain more by portraying themselves as the guardians of the real honest American Social Security program against the less numerous, morally suspect “disabled” “folks.”

These guys are up to no good.  No good.  Everything that is passed by this Congress does not improve anything. It is just crap. Crap.

Yes, I am a partisan hack.  But I just do not agree with this Congress on anything especially with all of the disabled people out there.

This Is What Meth Does To You

So I found out on KTLA (http://ktla.com/2015/01/01/pregnant-mother-arrested-in-norcal-after-baby-dies-of-meth-poisoning/)

” Northern California woman was arrested this week in connection with the death of her 2-month old baby, who died of acute methamphetamine poisoning, police said Tuesday.

The two-month old infant passed away in June at a hospital after experiencing symptoms including choking and difficulty breathing, according to a news release from the Fairfield Police Department.

An investigation began the following month after the infant’s cause of death was determined.

During the course of the investigation, Fairfield police identified the mother as 21-year-old Shelby Frederick, and determined that she had full care and custody of the child, the release stated.

Frederick, who is five months pregnant, was detained on Dec. 30. She was subsequently arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on a charge of assault of a child causing death, according to the release.

This is insanity of drug addiction. Drugs make you insane and make your life permanently unmanageable. Unfortunately, for this woman, it is life sentence for efforts because she failed to deal with addiction
