29 Life Sentences and Nobody Was Killed, Rape, Or Maimed

This guy did not kill anybody but he got 29 life sentences in prison according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram

DALLAS — A judge sentenced a member of the Scarecrow Bandits to 29 life sentences on Thursday for his role in multiple bank robberies in North Texas.

Charles Runnels, 43, had previously been convicted for manslaughter in Arkansas and for aggravated burglary in Ohio. Those convictions, coupled with a federal sentencing enhancement statute, enabled the judge to require the lengthy sentence, a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Runnels’ life sentences must be served consecutively, without parole. Runnels is the next-to-last Scarecrow Bandit to be sentenced. A sentencing date has not been set for Tony R. Hewitt, 43, who, along with co-defendants Corey Deyon Duffey and Calvin Brown, 29, were the groups’ leaders.

The defendants were known as the Scarecrow Bandits by the FBI because they wore loose, sometimes plaid, shirts and floppy hats during the first several of the 21 robberies they are believed to have committed, which included the March 16, 2008, robbery of the Bank of America in Fort Worth in the 4700 block of South Hulen Street.

This person did not rape or murder anybody.  All he did was stole and he still got 29 life sentences.  But this guy was a habitual felon with prior crimes of violence and therefore, got what he deserved.

The one thing that I dislike is when you put a lot of hard work into something and somehow mysteriously, the file did not save. I swear that I had to put a days worth of work into this file at work and yet, I got nothing to show for the work. I guess that I am going to back and do it.

Ughh! So frustrating!
