Rant on Sugar and ADHD

To those who complain that I have too much sugar, please understand that I have both ADHD/Autism, which are disorders with a substantial amount of sugar cravings. I have found out that several other people struggle with the same issue as bad or worse than I do.

Getting rid of my sugar fix is not the most significant priority right now. It is working on reading social cues, using my time off work more productively, and developing better social relationships. You also have an election and pandemic that create many unnecessary external anxieties that I have to deal with every day. Eating comfort foods is one way to soothe the stress without resorting to drinking or having full out anxiety attacks. I run 10-13 miles on the weekends as well.

With somebody with ADHD, you cannot overload a person’s executive function. An ADHD person can only modify their behavior on a few things before they become rote natural behaviors that require minimal effort.
