Musings on SDSU Parties

There was a classic Beastie Boy song called “You got Fight To Party”

And if you to go to SDSU, you have a real chance to “Fight for Right to Party. Of course, all the neighbors are up arms about it as CBS 8 reports

SAN DIEGO — People living in the College Area are bracing for an influx of students and loud parties, as the fall semester is set to begin at San Diego State University.

Neighbors told CBS 8 the university should be responsible for the conduct of its students, even if the parties are held off campus.

“When I went to San Diego State, there were parties. There were not 300 people at a party,” said Susan Hopps-Tatum, who grew up in the College Area.

She knows all too well what happens at the beginning of the college school year.

“Thousands of students walking the streets, very few police officers, no SDSU presence. It’s just concerning,” Hopps-Tatum said.

But if you are 18-22 years old, you are thinking screw the neighbors. Even me, at the old age of 45, thinking about the same thing.

However, let’s be honest, a 45 year old person like me has no business with SDSU coeds and especially if you are hardcore AA like me.

And of course where I am moving, you just go find a lonely rich women in AA with lots of money and marry into that. I have zero desire to that but of course who knows especially if the person has loads of dogs.

But the SDSU party are still epic and I don’t think that I would ever pick up especially given how many times I have gone to Burning Man events and not got drunk. I would be more worried about relapsing at some snobby La Jolla wine tasting party than epic rager at SDSU.

However, I do have to remember that with my old damn age, I have hard time to staying up past 11:00 PM especially with having to deal with loud music and lots of aggro drinking.

To be honest, I prefer the serenity of quiet neighborhood rather than epic keggers. But there is just something so much damn that frat kegger. I am going to live near UCSD, but that is not SDSU and academically UCSD was completely out of my reach while SDSU is right at home for me.

Those are just my thoughts on that story.

Interesting Take On Startups

An interesting take on VC

Supposedly 99%+ of all startups of any kind (products, restaurants, etc) fail within a few years of launching. Fail = shut down.Even most YC startups fail, despite of all the support. This is problematic because it discourages founders on the margin from launching a startup.More so in a downturn after a period of exuberance in the tech and crypto markets.Increasing founder success rate at every stage of the startup journey– idea, build, launch, grow, pmf–would have the double impact of more successful startups encouraging more new founders.Seems to me we need a way for founders to reward the world for helping them grow at every stage– incentivizing early believers, collaborators, adopters, growth hackers, etc– the way YC is incentivized to help their founders– because they share in the upside. These don’t have to be securities, or even onchain assets, rather they can start as closed-loop reward coins that can be evolved to confer ownership and/or be onchain. To see an example of how this might work, please check out https://www.producthunt.com/posts/freemanc
