Saudi Arabian Man Marries A Nine Year. It is not called Marriage, it is called Child Rape

I read a CNN story in which a 47 year old man decided to marry a 9 year old.  If this guy decided to marry her and have sex in Calfornia,  this is your punishment

In California,  you are going to the big house for a long time for this one.   Here is an excerpt from PC 288.7(a)

“288.7.  (a) Any person 18 years of age or older who engages in
sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child who is 10 years of age or
younger is guilty of a felony and shall be punished by imprisonment
in the state prison for a term of 25 years to life.”

I have no sympathy for these creeps.  Good luck trying to getting the governor’s signature to get parole granted or getting my help to get out of prison   Making amends for this crime requires somebody of intensive honesty with themselves and requires extraordinary ability to forgive from the victim. Few in this society are capable of providing such forgiveness.

Tne End of the Madoff Dynasty

As Madoff sits in a cell in the Metropolitan Correctional Center, his empire is mere shadow of what it used to be. From being worth $823 Million Dollars to spending the rest of your life in small jail cell, how the mighty have fallen.

And his firm. What is the valuation. Only a mere $500,000. He will be remember as the biggest conman in history. Madoff will always be an example to those who worship the idol of material and the consequences of that. Do not take solace in money. Take solace in the spiritual prinicples of this world whatever your faith.

$500,000 that is it. Mr. Madoff, may God have mercy on your soul. And oh yes, if the Christian God is real, you still can get saved.

It is tired and my brain is fried. More thoughts on the news and life tommorow. And oh yeah, I got the phone assignment at my On the Couch meeting.

Another Dumb Criminal

During a quick break at work this morning, I read a story about a dumb criminal who decided steal several bags of frozen shrimp in his pants? W
As the shoplifter went down the shopping lane, he got a spotted by off-duty cop! Nice one. And according to the AP, this what happened next

“The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports that an off-duty detective was shopping at a Sweetbay supermarket Sunday when he noticed what appeared to be a man with groceries stuffed in his pants.

The detective approached 32-year-old Joseph Young and ordered him to stop. Authorities say Young then removed several bags of shrimp from his pants and promised to put them back.

When Young fled for the store’s exit, the detective tackled and restrained him until patrol deputies arrived.”

The criminal was hauled off to county and charged with resisting arrest and shoplifting.

What a moron. Too bad this episode did not make an episode of COPS.

Stupid Drunks

Most people when they get drunk just act silly and have a ball of the time. Other people like me just fall asleep. But this guy in Gettysburg, PA had other things in mind. According to York Daily Sun, this guy did the following

“A Gettysburg man was charged after police said he exited his home naked and tried to get neighbors to engage him in a karate fight.

State police at Gettysburg said they responded to the Grove Mobile Home Park after receiving complaints that Gary M. Jones, 47, of 4820 Old Harrisburg Road, Lot 6, had left his mobile home naked and was yelling at neighbors on Aug. 1.

Dennis A. Hucks, Gary Kerns and Andrea R. Orndorff, who were at Lot 75, told police Jones came outside naked at about 9:40 p.m., said he knew karate and asked the men if they wanted to fight, according to court documents.”

That is great. Based on prior research, judges sometime make offenders attend mandatory AA meetings as part of their probation. Does this guy really want to AA about this story? I bet the entire group would get a chuckle on this story.

Armchair Prison Expert

There is a website called Prisontalk.com which is a forum for people who loved that are locked up.  Since I was quite curious about how prisoners are sentenced, I actually did a detailed personal study of sentencing practices for about 30-40 states.  I did not research all of the states and my primary focus was California, my home state.

I gained enough knowledge to be actually answer’s people questions on sentencing, and especially in California.  Then I also drafted some mock legislation to make the Three Strikes more fairer and shared it with the site.

I do not work in the criminal justice field so in reality, any real reforms should made by the experts in that area.  However, it is area of interest to me and every week, I refine my knowledge even more as I hone into prison regulations and learn those.

The one roadblock that I will run into is when I want to start doing my own analysis.  While my profession is not in the area of criminal justice, I do have formal training and actual work experience with statistical analysis and there might be areas that I want to research.  However, the one problem is that I have to rely on data that I can pull down from the internet and than, if I want any more data, I will file for FOIA request for statistical data or if I am doing a procedure review.

If I ever did such a project, I will post the results on prisontalk.com and share the results with that community.  I am just doing this out of personal curiousity and as a way to use my time constructively

215 Years? For that

Yeah, the guy who did this crime deserves the stiff sentence.  But friggin 215 years, that is considered to be an excessive sentence for the crime.  It should be a life sentence with non-parole period of 20 years.

He did not kill anybody and a life sentence is justified but there must be the chance at parole unless the offender has committed several prior felonies.  Than a life without parole sentence is merited.

This is another gung-ho judge that makes the sentence excessive given the gravity of the crime.  Of course the public says he deserve it instead stating that the sentencing is excessive

When the media publishes stories about prison overcrowding, we should look ourselves in the mirror.  We created this issue upon otherself because we the public has created a cowboy lock-em mentality instead of creating a culture of strict but equitable sentencing.  In Europe, Canada, and the rest of the Free World, this sentence would be barbaric and it will be less stricter than what I recommending.

Leave Your Kids

Parents can be very cruel.   One of the worse ways of showing cruelity is abandoning a four-year old kid.

Recently, it happened because some parents who shoplifted some stuff decided to abandon after they shoplifted a stores.    That is example of pure cruelity and they deserve a stiff jail sentence for that.
