Depressed

The stock market is so, so depressing right.  According to this CNBC  report, the stock market is melting down.  Well, ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 2nd Great Depression.

If I were Obama, why would I want to be  President to inherent a potential depression.  You inherent the entire mess of the Buscho legacy and you have to lead the country out of this hole.

Unless your career aspiration is the next FDR, than I would stay away from this mess.  But he decided to run because he had the ego to do it and now he gets stuck with mess.

Sarah Palin — The Politico Vs the Person

It is my opinion that I do not like the politician of Sarah Palin but I bet I would dig her in real life.  If she went to my church,  she would be somebody that I want to talk.  She would be a colorful and very charismatic personality to have around at a church.  An woman with several children, faithful to her husband,

Aka — She is the ultimate soccer mom.

However, her policies and use of Christianity to guide her political position worry me.  But I never once thought about desiring to vote for McCain.  The junior senator from Illinois is agreement with me on economic policies and I agree with him on most issues except for illegal immigration and entitlement reform

Unlike Palin, I do not let my spirituality guide my politics because I know it dangerous and America is a secular nation; not a Christian nation.  Since I view America as a secular nation and not a Christian nation, my voting decision is done what make sense in a secular world, not what is done Christian nation

If God is real, than he will return and set up his own kingdom.  Until he does, we live in secular world and therefore my voting and political decisions are based on what is best for the country from a secular point of view and the church focus on its real task which is saving souls for Christ.

Armchair Prison Expert

There is a website called Prisontalk.com which is a forum for people who loved that are locked up.  Since I was quite curious about how prisoners are sentenced, I actually did a detailed personal study of sentencing practices for about 30-40 states.  I did not research all of the states and my primary focus was California, my home state.

I gained enough knowledge to be actually answer’s people questions on sentencing, and especially in California.  Then I also drafted some mock legislation to make the Three Strikes more fairer and shared it with the site.

I do not work in the criminal justice field so in reality, any real reforms should made by the experts in that area.  However, it is area of interest to me and every week, I refine my knowledge even more as I hone into prison regulations and learn those.

The one roadblock that I will run into is when I want to start doing my own analysis.  While my profession is not in the area of criminal justice, I do have formal training and actual work experience with statistical analysis and there might be areas that I want to research.  However, the one problem is that I have to rely on data that I can pull down from the internet and than, if I want any more data, I will file for FOIA request for statistical data or if I am doing a procedure review.

If I ever did such a project, I will post the results on prisontalk.com and share the results with that community.  I am just doing this out of personal curiousity and as a way to use my time constructively
